FARMERS AND FISHERFOLKS DAY

Last May 15, 2024, we paid tribute to Guimaras farmers and fisherfolk who serve as the backbone of the province’s economy and food security.

More than 500 Guimaras farmers and fisherfolk and 72 Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) gathered at the Manggahan 2024 Agri-Eco Trade Fair area to celebrate Farmers and Fisherfolk Day through fun and exciting activities such as palaro and skills competition, binalaybay and composo competition, and the search for Mr. and Ms. Farmer Festival.

Several projects and livelihood packages were handed to different farmer and fishery groups, such as swine production and goat production livelihood projects. Lucky attendees also won farming and fish production materials as door prizes sponsored by Guimaras farmers and fisherfolk associations, five MLGU Municipal Agricultural Offices, Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS), Region 6 Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and Department of Agriculture (DA).

As an agri-fishery province celebrating a premier Agri Festival, bugal gid naton ang aton mangunguma kag mangingisda bilang mga #ManggadsangGuimaras!
