Jordan, Guimaras | June 22, 2026 – The Guimaras Mango Development Council (GUIMADECO) held its inaugural meeting at the Agri-Fishery Center (AFC) Function Hall to strengthen the protection, development, and global competitiveness of Guimaras Mango. The meeting was presided over by Provincial Agriculturist Alvin L. Nava, Co-Chairperson of GUIMADECO, on behalf of Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, Chairperson of the Council.
Established through Executive Order No. 48, Series of 2026, GUIMADECO serves as the province’s lead coordinating body for the Guimaras mango industry. The inaugural meeting gathered government agencies, private sector partners, mango growers, producers, exporters, and other stakeholders to discuss priority initiatives for the industry.
The Council agreed on priority actions to strengthen governance, enhance the protection of the Guimaras Mango Geographical Indication (GI), improve provincial ordinances, address product mislabeling and counterfeiting, and expand export opportunities following the successful initial export of Guimaras Mangoes to Hong Kong and the European Union.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to strengthen collaboration, safeguard the authenticity and quality of Guimaras Mango, and enhance its global competitiveness.
