The Province of Guimaras in partnership with Department of Agriculture- Philippine Rural Development Program – Project Support Office Visayas Cluster, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and 5 Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) of Guimaras conducted the 1st Agri-Fishery Investment Forum last September 22, 2023 at Guimaras Mountain Resort, Daragan, Buenavista, Guimaras.
The activity was participated by the Private and Business Sector, International, National and Regional Chamber of Commerce, Agri-Fishery Stakeholders, partner National Government Agencies, Metro-Iloilo Guimaras Development Council, MLGUs and members of the technical working groups from the Provincial Government of Guimaras.
The Province had identified potential agricultural investment areas based on Value Chain Studies of the following commodities: Mango, Coconut, Seaweeds, Swine, Native Chicken, and Goat prepared by the Department of Agriculture (DA) under the DA-Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP) as specified in the Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP) of Guimaras Province.
The activity objectives include presentations of 8 investment briefs and attracting Private Investors and Government Funding Agencies for the Investment Projects identified of the 6 Priority Commodities.
Furthermore, with Guimaras’ Economic Development Roadmap anchored on “KABATA-AN FIRST Agenda 2025” of the current provincial administration, and given the Department of Agriculture’s strategic focus on agricultural productivity of the priority commodities, this Guimaras Agri-Fishery Investment Forum is timely and significant.
