On April 2, 2023, the Province of Guimaras, in partnership with John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU), held the Padyak Kaligtasan event, a part of the Guimaras: Bike Paradise of the Philippines Project. The event’s theme was “Be the First Responder: A Marshals Rescue and First Aid Training,” and it was organized in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Guimaras Provincial Police Office, LGU Jordan and Sibunag, Highway Patrol Group, and PNP Jordan and Sibunag.
The bike enthusiasts who participated in the event came from Bacolod, Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, and other nearby areas. They traversed the 23.9km trail from Jordan Wharf to Woodland Bike Park, which consisted of a combination of 50% single trail, 30% trail, 10% off-road, and 10% road.
Alongside the Padyak Kaligtasan fun ride, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office spearheaded an orientation on Extrication and Basic First-Aid Training. A total of 34 beneficiaries, including Brgy. Officials, Motorcycle Riders, and Identified Communities of Brgy. Ravina, Sibunag, received training to prepare for the upcoming National Enduro and Cross-Country Series on October 22-23, 2023. Around 160 bikers joined the event, consisting of 149 male and one female from Bacolod, Iloilo City, and Iloilo Province, as well as locals. The Extrication and Basic First-Aid Training had 34 beneficiaries, with 21 females and 13 males.
