The Jordan Town Plaza was founded in Brgy. Poblacion, Jordan. It only has a total area of 677 square meters. Because of this, the plaza was given the title of “Smallest Town Plaza” in the whole Philippines by the “Western in the Philippines” column of the Philippine Free Press on January 4, 1960.
The Jordan Town Plaza faces the Roman Catholic Church and is surrounded by hills. It is approximately 250 meters from Jordan Municipal Hall. In the center of the plaza stands the statue of former Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay who visited the island in the early 1950s. President Magsaysay was the first Philippine President to visit Guimaras.
Taklong Island, part of the Taklong Island National Marine Reserve in Guimaras, Philippines, is overseen by the University of the Philippines Visayas. Guimaras Wind Farm is a project of AC Energy that is envisioned to sustain the yearly power needs of around 42,000 households. It also aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, estimated at 1.3 million tons of CO2 over a 20-year project life.
The wind farm has a total of 27 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), across the four barangays of the municipality of San Lorenzo, Guimaras.
Each wind turbine generator has a capacity of 2 MW. In 2014, it became the first wind farm to be connected to the Visayas Grid. Its generated electricity directly goes to the grid, contributing to the power needs of the whole Visayas.
