TRAINING ON CULTURAL MAPPING OF PANAY AND GUIMARAS

The Provincial Government of Guimaras, Guimaras State University, and five municipalities recently took part in a training session on Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras from February 26 to March 1, 2024. The objective of the training was to discuss the principles and significance of cultural mapping, with plans to conduct a cultural mapping project in Panay and Guimaras.

The Cultural Mapping of Panay and Guimaras Project, mandated by Republic Act No. 11961, also known as the “Cultural Mapping Law of 2023,” is a key initiative supported by Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda.

This project is a collaborative effort involving various educational institutions such as the University of the Philippines Visayas, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Aklan State University, Capiz State University, Guimaras State University, Iloilo Science and Technology University, Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology, University of Antique, and West Visayas State University. Additionally, it has the support of the Department of Education Region VI and the local government units of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.
