Jordan, Guimaras | July 20, 2026 โ The Provincial Economic Development Office (PEDO), upon the request of the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), convened selected members of the Guimaras Mango Development Council (GUIMADECO) to discuss the proposed transfer of the Blockchain Technology for Guimaras Mango.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS), Office of the Governor (GO), Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative (GMGPDC).
During the meeting, ISAT U presented the Blockchain Technology for Guimaras Mango, a digital traceability platform that helps protect the authenticity and quality of Guimaras mangoes, safeguards the Guimaras Mango Geographical Indication (GI), and enhances consumer confidence and market competitiveness. GMGPDC shared updates on its implementation, citing limited human and financial resources as key challenges. To ensure the platform’s sustainability and wider adoption, ISAT U proposed transferring its management to GUIMADECO.
The participating agencies also discussed implementation arrangements, institutional collaboration, and capacity-building initiatives to support the platform’s adoption.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance blockchain-enabled traceability as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity, promote the authenticity, and strengthen the global competitiveness of Guimaras Mango.
