San Lorenzo, Guimaras โ The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers of the Province of Guimaras gathered for their Third Quarter Meeting on July 21, 2026 at the Municipality of San Lorenzo, which served as the host for the assembly. The meeting focused on assessing the status of ongoing Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) programs, upcoming initiatives, and strengthening convergence efforts to boost local employment.


Discussions centered on the implementation status of key DOLE interventions in the province. The managers reported on the progress of the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), which continues to provide temporary employment to indigent but deserving students. Updates were also given on the Government Internship Program (GIP), which immerses young workers in public service, and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program, an emergency employment initiative that continues to benefit displaced and underemployed workers in Guimarasโ communities.
During the session, a representative from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) presented the details of the Lifelong Employability and Advancement Program (LEAP) , highlighting how the localized scholarship initiative is designed to align skills training directly with the demands of the job market. Furthermore, the body was briefed on the preparations and coordination needed for the upcoming Regional PESO Congress, an event that aims to enhance the capacity of employment facilitators across Western Visayas.


Recognizing the need for a whole-of-government approach, the PESO Managers extensively tackled convergence issues. The body strategized on harmonizing efforts on employment facilitation, technical and livelihood skills training, and the aggressive promotion of local industries. The dialogue emphasized the need to connect trained individuals seamlessly to livelihood opportunities and enterprise development programs.
A critical point in the agenda was the enhancement of the labor market information system. The managers underscored the vital importance of actively tracking unemployed individuals within their respective municipalities. They agreed that a dynamic and updated database is essential for efficiently matching qualified jobseekers with the appropriate employers and available vacancies in the province.
